are white noise machines good for Babies? First, the blanket protection. I can’t think of any reason that a baby’s sounds should not be turned off altogether at night if you want to sleep.
At night, we need every bit of space we can get, which includes places for the baby to get cozy. When you can’t turn the volume completely off, at least turn it down until it’s not likely to wake your baby, a white noise machine might be the answer. I’m a big fan of the Dream Genius because of its playtime options and multiple white noise options.
Quiet Town Digital White Noise Machine. It provides a wide variety of sound choices, so you have a lot to choose from. It features an on-off switch, two different levels of white noise and a sleep timer. I would use this one because of its multiple playtime options.
Indulgence White Noise Machine is another great choice because it provides a choice between 15 minutes of sound or 24 hours of sound with multiple playtime options.
The Sleep Baby Sleep plays 5 different types of sound: fall, ocean, waves, forest, and thunder. It’s helpful if your baby is sensitive to certain sounds.
Ways to Use a White Noise Machine
Use it during naps or nighttime. Set your machine to play when the baby should be sleeping. I set mine to play when I went to bed.
Set it when you’re going to go to sleep. It may seem like more noise is what your baby needs, but it’s really not. It’s good to switch it off in the evening, especially if you’re going to go out or don’t want to wake up in the middle of the night. I used the Crying Machine for my baby during nighttime, but my baby got too much noise during that time. She had a hard time falling asleep after. Now she only gets the sound during naps.
Set it to play when you’re busy. Some babies need a lot of white noise during their nap times. That’s a good time to set it, especially if you have a hard time sitting still.
Play through it again at night. This is another way you can use the white noise machine. I often put it on when I go to sleep myself. It helps my baby fall asleep quicker.
Use it to create white noise during the day. My baby loves the sound of the machines so much that I now use them at night as well. I set them on when I’m cleaning and working with my baby. It creates white noise that’s good enough for her. She doesn’t cry, but she gets tired fast.
White Noise Machines That Are Not as Good
Old Fashioned Baby Sleep Machine: This is another old fashioned type of machine. It provides sounds that are not very useful. At least in our case, it made noises that sounded like a white noise machine.
Baby Sound Machine. It also gives off a lot of noise, but it’s still not enough noise to mask the sounds of the machine.
White Noise Baby Machine. This one has several white noise options. It has a timer and various sound modes that mimic a white noise machine.
